About Biotechnology Department
Department of Biotechnology, Sahyadri Science College, Kuvempu University was established in the year 2002 and currently offering various programmes such as UG, PG and PhD in Biotechnology. The main aim of the department is to provide, a strong platform to make the students excel in academic and make them more employable in industry with necessary and adequate practical skills. The department has well trained faculty members, with adequate experience. Department is also actively engaged in research activities, in the field of pharmacology, natural product research, plant tissue culture and bioinformatics and cancer biology. The research activities are supported by, University Grant Commission (UGC), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Science and Engineering Research board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Vision group for Science and Technology (VGST), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Lady TATA memorial trust (LTMT). The students have received various prestigious national and international fellowships. The output students are significantly contributing various field of Biotechnology both at national and international levels is the proof of testimony about the department.
