Youth Red Cross Unit

Youth Red Cross (YRC) is an International Organization meant for humanitarian services. In Sahyadri Science College, Youth Red Cross unit came into existence in the year 2017-18. YRC was started in the college to enhance and enrich students about human values and humanity. In 2017,Dr. Daisy Jasmine George was appointed as the First Youth Red Cross Co-Ordinator. Each year student office bearers are elected by volunteers for the posts Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. Red Cross volunteers are enrolled from the First- and Second-year degree classes. Presently, there are about 200 volunteers enrolled in which many students have undergone first – aid training and CPR training.

Principles of Youth Red Cross:

  • Informing youth members and others the roles and responsibilities of the Red Cross and encourage them to contribute.
  • An awareness on the care of their own health and that of others.
  • Understanding and acceptance of civic responsibilities and acting accordingly with humanitarian concern, to fulfil the same.
  • To enable the growth and development of, spirit of service and sense of duty with dedication and devotion in the minds of youth.
